Mailbox Love - The compilation post

Wow! Schools are rolling back in session in my area and this month with the past couple of weeks being full steam ahead so it has been absolutely CRAZY for me. Sadly, it's looking to be an absolute nuthouse for the rest of the month around here. It's been so nuts that half the time I don't even know what came in the mail when. (My husband has been checking our mail.)  I think I'm going to roll this all into one compilation post.

I think in the past couple of days I received:
  • Target Up & Up products coupon book
  • Costco coupon book
  • Coupon for FOUR jars of Beech-Nut baby food (great for donating)
  • My DH got his free Maxim mag
What goodies have you been getting?

Also, don't forget to play Kroger/King Sooper's Summer of Savings Sweepstakes and the The Difference One Makes game daily to earn Box Tops for Education!

Rite Aid deals

Ya know, Rite Aid is a drugstore so I don't normally associate deals with them. In fact, I think their mark up is a bit ridiculous. You really have to know your prices well and be able to do the math on the spot to get a good deal. For example, they have Queen Helene Cocoa Butter as part of their SCR* this month. Get 50 cents rebate for a bottle, but here's the thing, it sells for almost $5 at Rite Aid. At Walmart? The same bottle size goes for $1.98. That's a big difference even with the SCR so that makes the rebate not worth it. Still, if you shop carefully there are some really good deals to be had there. Here's what I scored tonight:

  • 2x Duracell AAA batteries 16 pack - normally $13.99, W+** price: $9.99, each pack had a $1 off peelie coupon = $17.98
  • 1x Duracell AAA batteries 8 pack - normally $8.99, W+ price: $4.99, each pack had $1 off peelie coupon = $3.99
Submit for SCR #10 final cost: $11.97 or .30/battery
  • 3x Pilot Easy Touch retractable pens $2.29/ea. = $6.87, 3x $1 off Pilot pens coupon = $5.87. (Regular Easy Touch retractable are 2 packs, the Pro version is one per pack. Both were the same price at my Rite Aid.)
    Submit for SCR #140 = $1.87 (or .31/pen)
(not as good as the Walgreens deal from last week, but with the $5 off $25 coupon, the pens were essentially free.)
$5 off $25 Rite Aid coupon

Final cost of entire purchase: $9.84 +tax.
Savings:
W+: $12
Coupons: $11
SCR: $11
Total savings: $32
Plus the following +UP***:
$1 off $10 pain relief purchase
$1 off $10 hair care purchase.

The prices I mentioned here are also posted in this week's (7/11-7/17) Rite Aid circular.

Terminologies:
* SCR = Single Check Rebate - Rite Aid's rebate program.
** W+ = Wellness + - Rite Aid's loyalty program
*** +UP = +UP Rewards - Rite Aid's promo coupon program

If you're unable to score a similar deal at Rite Aid, but you're a Costco member, then you're in luck. You can get a very similar price for batteries at Costco:

In the new Costco coupon book valid July 15-Aug 8, 2010, there is a $2 coupon for Duracell batteries (limit 10 packs.) It's $7.99/24 pk AAA or $10.99/40 pk AA. For AAA batteries, that breaks down to about .33/battery which is only slightly more than the Rite Aid deal.

Samples

Remember that DHA sample I got from Nordic Naturals yesterday in the mail? Well the package was empty! When I first felt it, it seemed weird but I thought, well maybe it's in a melt away form so it's super thin but then I saw it said that the packet contained 2 gel tabs I knew something was up. I opened up the package and behold, it was empty!  Strange thing is, the 3 packets of samples I got were taped together with some Scotch tape so a human must've assembled it, yet they failed to realize that the packet of DHA was empty.  Strange.

Anyway, here are some more samples for ya:

Mailbox Love & Costco

What goodies did I get in the mail today?

  1. I got a post card informing me that the 2010 Entertainment Book is now free if you reserve the 2011 edition.
  2. A coupon for free Tropicana Orange Juice from trading in 1 point at their Juicy Rewards program a few weeks ago.
  3. A new Costco coupon book valid June 10 - July 3, 2010
Speaking of Costco, are you a Costco shopper? If so, you might want to take advantage of this little deal.

In the current Costco coupon book, which expires tomorrow, June 6, there's a coupon for $3 off Off! insect repellent, which is also good for the Clip Ons.  The Costco ones come with 6 refills, which is a really good deal. At my Costco, the pack of 1 Clip On and 6 refills is $11.99 the coupon is for $3 off so that makes it just $8.99.  That's like getting 5 refills for free compared to the retail version of the Clip On.  The retail version of the refills comes in a pack of 2 for around $4 at Walmart on Rollback or $4.89 normal price at Target.   The Costco deal even beats the BOGO deal with the coupon available on the Off! website a few weeks ago combined with a sale. (It doesn't look like it's available any more.)  Target had the Clip Ons for $7.99, they're normally around $9.  The Costco Off! coupon is also good for the spray packs of insect repellent. The pack comes with a 6oz bottle of unscented pump spray, 3 cans of smooth & dry aerosol and 4 towelettes.  The coupon has a limit of 2, but it seems like it's 2 of each type because I was able to get 2 Clip On packs and 1 spray pack.

So, what about you? What goodies did you get in the mail today and what good deals have you scored?
